Last updated: August 2026. This policy explains the cookies and similar browser technologies BuyThis.ie uses, why we use them and how you can manage your choices.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies — such as local storage and session storage — also keep small amounts of information on your device. They can be set by us (first-party) or by another company whose service is used on a page (third-party).

2. How BuyThis.ie uses them

BuyThis.ie currently uses only technologies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for: signing you in, keeping your session active, protecting the platform, and remembering essential settings such as your theme and your cookie choices.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising or marketing trackers, behavioural profiling, cross-site tracking pixels or third-party advertising networks on BuyThis.ie.

3. Strictly necessary technologies

These cannot be switched off in our system because the service will not work without them:

Authentication and session — your signed-in session is stored by our authentication provider in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in between pages and after returning from payment.
Security and fraud prevention — session validation and server-side access rules protect accounts, listings and messages.
Essential preferences — your light/dark theme choice and your recorded cookie choices.

Under the ePrivacy rules, technologies strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested do not require prior consent. You can still remove them through your browser settings, but parts of BuyThis.ie will then stop working — for example you will be signed out.

4. Analytics

BuyThis.ie does not currently use any analytics cookies or analytics SDKs. If analytics are introduced in future, they will be listed here, placed in a separate optional category, and only activated after you have given consent where the law requires it.

5. Marketing and advertising

BuyThis.ie does not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, retargeting tags or third-party advertising networks. No behavioural advertising profile is built about you on this platform.

6. Third-party technologies

When you choose to buy a Featured Ad or Boost, the payment is completed on Stripe's own checkout. Stripe sets its own cookies and similar technologies there for payment processing, security and fraud prevention. Those technologies are controlled by Stripe under its own privacy and cookie information, and they are only involved when you deliberately start a payment. We do not load Stripe tracking on ordinary browsing pages.

8. Managing and withdrawing consent

Because no optional technologies are in use today, there is nothing optional to accept or reject, and we do not show a consent banner asking for permission we do not need. Your choices are still available at any time on the Cookie Settings page, which you can also reach from Profile → Support & Info.

If an optional category is introduced later, it will stay switched off until you turn it on, a consent request will appear, and you will be able to withdraw your consent at any time from the same page — without deleting your account. Our consent records include the policy version (currently 2026-08), so if practices materially change we can ask again rather than relying on an out-of-date choice.

9. Browser settings

All major browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear site storage, and offer private browsing modes. Blocking or clearing storage for BuyThis.ie will sign you out and reset your theme and cookie choices, and some features may not work as expected.
